Official Buffalo 2012 Trip Itinerary

Gentlemen,

When we hit this holiday weekend our trip will be less than two weeks away. Let me just take a moment to review our basic trip itinerary.

Friday, April 20, 2012:

1:30 p.m.: I need everyone settled in and fed and dressed and at the Gordon Motel in downtown Jasper by 1:30 for our 7 mile warm up float. The Gordon’s provide life jackets and paddles.

1:50 p.m.: Mandatory Safety Lecture provided by scary Mr. Gordon.

2:00 p.m.: Load buses for Pruitt to Hasty seven mile warm up float. Depending on your pace, and there is no rush, this could take you anywhere from 2 ½ to 4 ½ hours.

4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Shuttles will transport you back to the Gordons.

5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Fine dining available at the Ozark Café and Pizzeria.

8:00 p.m. Join the Founder for fellowship around a roaring fire on the grounds of the Gordon Motel.

Saturday, April 21, 2012:

8:30 a.m.: I need everyone fed, dressed and at the Gordon Motel gearing up.

8:45 a.m.: Please be ready and prepared to group up for our annual group photo

8:53 a.m.: Load up the buses

9:00 a.m.: Depart for our Saturday all day float…Steele Creek to Kyle’s (8 miles); to Irby (12 miles); and for the extreme Iron Men (to Pruitt 21 miles). Gentlemen, we will have all day to enjoy some of the most beautiful mountainous, river country you have ever seen. Hopefully, the weather will be warm allowing you and our boys to stop often, frolic, explore and swim. There is no rush.

11:30 – 1:00 p.m. Many will be gathering at the beautiful giant jumping cliff for lunch. It’s a favorite hangout for our Iron Men. Shortly, leaving there you first timers should pull off and hike the short distance to see the beautiful Hemmed In Hollow waterfall.

3:30 until dark: Shuttles will be available to return you to the Gordon. The town of Jasper food establishments roll up for the night around 8:00 p.m.

7:30 p.m. until the wee hours: Telling tales of the day’s adventure around a roaring fire at the Gordon Motel with our “Beloved Founder”.

Sunday, April 22, 2012:

Leave at your convenience. The Ozark Café opens at 6:30 a.m. for coffee and breakfast. The Cliff House restaurant on the way out of town opens at 8:00, but many of us will like to get up and go to the Crackerbarrell in Russellville for our last breakfast before hitting the I-40 and taking it to the house.\

Directions:

If you are leaving Friday morning you should leave not later than 6:00 a.m. in order to arrive in Jasper between 11:30 and noon. The path: 167 North to Little Rock until you hit I-40 West toward Conway, Russellville . In Russellville, you take scenic Hwy 7 North (About 55 miles, winding, at least an Hour) and that will take you right through downtown Jasper and by the Gordon Motel.

Things to bring: Cooler, drinks, snacks and food for the River, especially Saturday. Strap for cooler. Ziplocs and/or dry bag. I suggest you be prepared for any type of weather. But if it is warm and beautiful, or even if not, I would suggest the quick drying, bathing suit or work out material or Under Armour type clothing that would be quick drying. No matter what the day brings, Saturday morning will start out a little cool…and of course that first hundred yards Saturday morning is always risky for tumping even for experienced Iron Men.

I am attaching once again the Cost Sheet Pdf and the general information pdf and the Gordon Room List pdf for your review.

Have A Great Easter Weekend! I am glad you can join us! We shall not be denied, another Glorious Trip!

The Founder
